Free Energy Project Support
for Rural NC Businesses and Farms

Whether you are just getting started and would like to learn what energy upgrades and funding opportunities are available to you specifically, or if you already have a project in mind that you’d like to apply for grant funding toward, our Rural Energy Initiative portal is your starting place.

After submitting info through the portal, EnergyCAP can provide free over-the-phone or on-site technical assistance to small businesses and agricultural producers in the rural regions of North Carolina, helping them evaluate and assess the potential for using renewable energy and energy efficiency measures at their business in a third-party, vendor-neutral way. This is made possible with a supporting grant from USDA Rural Development.

Rural small businesses and farms who are interested in having a free one-on-one discussion on their energy generation potential for solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, wood heat, and other renewable energy technologies can receive helpful educational information and preliminary vendor-neutral site evaluations at no cost.

Energy Efficiency
Rural small businesses and farms who are interested in pursuing efficiency measures like lighting, insulation, air sealing, pump and equipment upgrades, may be eligible for a free audit from our partner organization, Waste Reduction Partners. In any case, we can support such businesses with knowledge about available grant funding, available electric utility incentives, and more.

If you already have a project in mind, and a quote from an energy installer in hand, you can use the portal to apply for grant funding as well. (See our Funding page for a description of the opportunities that your project may qualify for.)

Getting Started

Click the REI Portal button to get started. After reviewing your eligibility and areas of interest from your survey responses, we will be back in touch with more information and the next steps towards evaluating the energy improvement options (as well as funding opportunities) for your business.
